RECUPERATE YOUR SENSE OF ELEGANCE     by Carmen Álvaro.

Start with a very elementary reflection on whatever art you practise, which puts you in the position to recuperate the sense of elegance wich surrounds you (a delicate behaviour towards everybody and everything) which has been lost in both a mediocre and inhuman society, focused on a post-modern and electronic comunication, even with your own body. If you have chosen the warrior´s path to evolve, you will have wondered "what make art shine"?  The Bertrand Hamel´s answer is, he who practises it can connect to the spring.

His master taught him the essence of internal martial arts a long time ago:

TaiChi Chuan: Life flows in a gentley and circular way

Hsing I Chuan: A direct blow

Bagua Zhang: The variety or continuous changes  and the relationship that man has with nature.

If you feel comfortable in your centre point, you go into a state in which you pay attention to nature and you observe the harmonisation wiht it.  Nature accepts everything  that is in order, if it´s not so, it will send wind, rain an itching, a cramp... to temove you from that place, from your posture, indicating that you are not connected.

The correct strong posture, searches for that conscious contact with the spring, with the internal guide, to act knowingly afterwards. The way of breathing is decisive to achieve the full sensation of calmness and clarity. If boredom or anxiety invades you, you shrink and your breathing shortens, you self-esteem decreases and your mind blurs.  At that moment you should breathe out three long breaths, breathe in naturally without any effort, close your eyes and feel your feet steady on the ground.  Take your attention to your Dantien, (the lower part of your abdomen, one or two inches below your navel) and for a few minutes enjoy the flow of life inside you.  Start the rhythm of the exercise again, and concentrate on the intermediate state (Yin mixed with Yang movements) similar to the state betweeen sleep and alertness, relaxed but active, that isn´t carried out as a normal action or inconscious movement, but we give it more life.  Here is where the so-calved "fairy" or "internal doctor" appers... In chinese thought the idea of movement is associated to the opportunity to achieve.....

Working with energy, means paying attention, not  to your muscles or your internal organs (where no doubt, your movements, thoughts, actions and everything have an effect) but to your energy and breathing.  On breathing in you fill yourself with energy, with everyting you wish and are capable of. On breathing out you liberate your tensions.

Think of yourself as a unique and original human being in your way of practising or teaching, to forget that is your worst sin your art, your mastery impregnates everything and everybody, a new way of feeling, of relating to others unknown until that moment. Life in a conscientions way, look for your interior peace "the fairy".  Take your time to watch, to listen and to savour the flavours of each moment....
