| The
pushing hands
doesn´t
exist. It
consists of an
exchange of
energy,
working in parts
based on three
inseparable concepts
or
attitudes:
Slowness, rooting
and
listanning, and
on these
principles,
not to use your
strength to push or
knock somone
down.
You look for peace
and
health, not to
be the strongest or
cleverest.
What makes you be
pushed, moved or
even flown through
the air is not the
pressure or strength
of your partner but
his
"Chi".
The other person´s
"chi"
looks for you and
the occupies your
space and fills
you.
this is the energy
that pushes
you.
The firs weekend
in february, the Tui
Shou workshop
started in Madrid,
given by the master
of internal arts, Bertrand
Hamel,
and
it will continue in
march and april.
To understand the
work of Tui Shou,you
should do the
following
levels:
1st.
Level:
Three
workshops orientated
towards organizing
the physical
structure,
getting into line
and search for the
lines of strength (through
rhythm and finding
the right
posture).
We do simple
exercises to start
making the movements
that give martial
preparation and also
movements that
facilitate the
circulation of
energy (Zhan Zhuang
Gong. The tree
posture). A list of
movements is
provided to enable
one to work in
pairs.
2nd.
Level:
Three
sessions dedicated
to Fa-Jin or
explosive strength.
Designed to fight
against internal
enemies, such as
bacterias, viruses,
addictions,
insegurities or
fears, etc.
3rd.
Level.
Curing
level.
Learn to channel
your energy to cure
yourself and
others.
Pushing
hands not only
provides a unique
and conscious self-understandign
but offers us a key
to listen,
understand and
accept our social
interactions. Using
a pattern of
movements adapted
for this objective,
it´s easy to
recognize what
happens when two
beings meet and make
contact. And what
makes us lose our
centre point and
self-confidence in
favour of fighting
and domination.
When two beings come
into contact, they
must respect the
basis of any
relationship, wait
and listen; then
develop the state in
which there is no
sign of desire,
power, necessity,
confusion, of doubt
about anything and
finally to act from
your creative
thinking (effort,
fluidity and
gentleness) and not
from your
destructive thinking
(physical power or
brute
force)
With
the intention of
recognizing our
centre and keeping
our balance, the
partner participates
without resistence,
actively listening,
reflecting and
magnifying this
process. His
presence and energy
help you to increase
and refine yours.
Fear of being beaten,
by the force of fate
or your partner,
reflects our lack of
knowledge of the
human being.
The art of Tui Shou
is a display of
elegance and
gentleness. It is
expressed like a
dance and it
harmonizes first
yourself and then
you with your
partner and nature.
It means sharing,
contacting more than
dominating, in a
space where there is
no room for dispute.
To
feel the Chi or not
is the only thing to
watch. ¿How to
express it? cold,
heat, lightness,
agility,heaviness or
tickling? Everyone
feels it differently,
according to your
mood. Looking
for sensations that
another being feels,
means missing the
opportunity to
develop a sensory
intelligence, to
feel your own
emotions, correct
them and if
necessary to recover
your
well-being.
The
way you look and
your breathing give
you power in martial
arts but it is
worked from inside.
Your attention
should be focused on
listening, keeping
your centre of
gravity, contacting
with your vital
spirit and being
conscious of your
"Chi"
which directs your
movements.
"If
your courage turns
into aggression, you
will never win"
(taoist
proverb)
